Flores has a vast set of experience markers that make him uniquely qualified for this position having served on the Pueblo School District #60 Board for 8 years, appointed by Governor Hickenlooper to the Board of Governors for the CSU System which includes CSU Pueblo, served on Board and as President of the Latino Chamber of Commerce and it’s Foundation, appointed and elected to Pueblo City Council (At-Large), Pueblo Urban Renewal Authority and many other Governmental boards in Pueblo.
Flores has a strong background in political issues having run two bond campaigns as chairman of the Pueblo City Schools last $100,000,000.00 bond election that passed overwhelmingly in 2003 and as co-chair for the County of Pueblo TABOR timeout in 2009 which produced $22,000,000 in additional revenue. This helped build the new City/County Health Department Building and helped fix roads, the ice arena and other recreational facilities.
Flores has served as President of the Pueblo City Schools, President of the Latino Chamber of Commerce and President of the Latino Chamber Foundation, Treasurer of the CSU System Board of Governors.
Flores has a background in working with budgets of $100 million to $1.2 billion. He has a background in Risk Management and Commercial Insurance having had a career with Steel City Agencies and HUB International. He had over 300 business clients of nonprofits, contractors, professionals, retail, wholesale and others. He has a business background and understands the issues of small business. He holds a Business Administration Degree in Management and also is a student of W. Edward Deming – Total Quality Management. Flores also taught “Principals of Insurance” at CSU Pueblo.
